OUR DAYS
Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom Psalm 90:12

This day...14 February 2008 Norman Bordadora of Philippine Daily Inquirer files this report -

Salonga : Enough Evidence vs Mike Arroyo, Abalos, Neri
Norman Bordadora,
Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines -- The Senate probe of the $329-million National Broadband Network (NBN) deal has produced enough evidence that can be used to prosecute Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo, Benjamin Abalos Sr. and Romulo Neri, former Senate President Jovito Salonga said Wednesday.

Salonga said even President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo could be held accountable and impeached in connection with the allegedly anomalous contract after she went to Boao, China, to witness the signing of the contract with Chinese firm ZTE Corp.

Salonga, who wrote a book on rules of evidence, said citizens’ watchdog groups Kilosbayan, Bantay Katarungan and Bantayog ng mga Bayani would soon file a complaint in the Office of the Ombudsman against Mike Arroyo (the President’s husband), Abalos, Neri and even Environment Secretary Lito Atienza...

Salonga said the groups, whose members include some of the country’s eminent lawyers, were ready to provide Senate witness Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr. with free legal assistance if he needed any.

Jose “Joey” de Venecia III, who blew the whistle on the deal, and new Senate witness Lozada have linked the President’s husband to the deal and accused Abalos of brokering it in exchange for fat commissions...

OUR JOURNEY
Take...no bag for the journey...for the laborer deserves his food. Matthew 10:10

We are convinced the evidence are sufficient and the people's efforts at rectifying the error and restoring people's trust in government are reasonable; and we are equally convinced that the President's and her supporters' efforts at rejecting the people's call for closure with the President's resignation are humanly understandable - what we feel we are missing here is a recognition of the need for the "means of grace" to make peaceful negotiation possible and a formula for equitable restoration of plundered wealth workable. Can the church mediate and provide a setting for the recognition of God's "means of grace" to settle the problem.

Placing ourselves in a position where we may benefit most from the life-giving light of God's love is the purpose of every means of grace. The means of grace are methods and practices we use to "put ourselves in God's way." They help us become receptive. (Grant Collier, quoted in Kyle Dugan and Craig Mitchell, Choosing Pilgrimage, p. 39)

OUR TRIBUTE
Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Be honest with God about ways you have withheld or blocked Christ's love. Offer yourself to be a means of grace today, a vessel of love to someone in particular.  Take a little symbol of God's love with you today as a means of grace for you (perhaps a cross, a special stone, or a devotional booklet or magazine). If you see an opportunity, give it to someone as a means of grace. (Grant Collier, quoted in Kyle Dugan and Craig Mitchell, Choosing Pilgrimage, p. 38)
