OUR DAYS
Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom Psalm 90:12

This day...05 February 2008, Maita Ager reports "Nograles is New House Speaker". The report partly reads -

MANILA, Philippines – Representative Prospero Nograles of Davao City has been elected as speaker of the House of Representatives. “It’s God’s will. It’s probably my destiny,” Nograles said minutes after he was sworn in as new speaker...“I accept this position with all humility. I asked myself what I’m doing here and I tell myself it’s God’s will. It’s probably destiny,” he further said.

OUR JOURNEY
Take...no bag for the journey...for the laborer deserves his food. Matthew 10:10

We first read, or heard of, the idea as "Thy will be done..." from the prayer the Lord Jesus Christ taught his disciples (Matthew 6:10). Next, we read it again, being invoked by the Lord Jesus Christ himself, "My father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt (Matthew 26:33). Now, we read it anew being declared, as in, confidently being declared, "It's God's will. It's probably destiny."  Let it be providential. As the writers of The Way of Pilgrimage would remind us  -

Being a spiritual pilgrim means moving to the beat of a different drum than most of the world around you...

God is good but not predictable. God won't fit in your back pocket. Our Creator is much bigger than your hopes and expectations. The Holy One is not a vending machine who will pop out the solutions to your problems. God is much wiser than that. The Lord of All  can seem like a warm blanket and also a searing fire. God can seem like a safe haven and also a raging river. Don't expect your pilgrimage with Christ to be predictable, or even safe. The way is risky, and it is good. Incredibly good.

OUR TRIBUTE
Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

With the disciples we pray, "Lord, teach us to pray...Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven"
